I figured it was time for a new one of these, since there's been a lot of changes since the last one was accurate.

And I'll stress that these are just the books that I intend to be over 50k words, not the novellas or shorts.

And Everything is subject to change. Everything. And will, many times.

Remember: the phoenixes were supposed to be in a novella, James was supposed to kill Stef in book #7 (and have it play out entirely differently) and yanno...every other massive change I've made. :P

There's one change to the layout that I've been very stubborn to accept, but I've been talked into it, and that's to split the Angelpie books off into their own sub-series. It makes things a lot less complicated, especially for new readers, and will make numbering less of a pain, I think, we'll have to work on it.

So the new layout will look something like:

Main Series - Arc 1 - Mirror
*1 - Mirrorfall
*2 - Mirrorheart
*3 - Mirrorshades
*4 - Mirrorfinish (maybe...well, whatever I rename Oubliette)

Main Series - Arc 2 - War
*1 - Awoken (placeholder title) - deals with Reynolds
*2 - Dusk (placeholder title) - I'm going to let you read the title and WMG in the comments
*3 - War (placeholder title) - the war, part 1
*4 - Angel Nation (placeholder title), the war, part 2

I'm only listing four books here, but I think there'll be another one or two added, to further deal with the stuff that leads up to the war. (Arcs aren't going to be a standard size).

Main Series - Arc 3 - ???
*1 - Bad Penny (placeholder title) - This will probably be a mix of two stories I was going to do, a caper story with a literal cat thief (imagine Sam Neill's cat burglar from The Simpsons crossed with Brannigan Kincade from Doctor Who's Gridlock), a missing mummy and a much more serious plot about money that can pass on subliminal messages and provoke people towards certain actions.
*?
*?
*?

Consider these placeholder spots for the moment as I'm not sure what this arc leads up to, but I know there's time before we head into...

[ETA - Arc 3 may end up being centred around the new gods/domains (see Cookiemas 2011), and be a sort of old magic vs new magic arc].

Main Series - Arc 4 - Future

And I can't say much at all about this. I'll say that it's sort of a Marvel 2099 approach where a lot of it actually takes place in the future.

Interspersed through the main series will be the Magpie Court books (taking suggestions on the Angelpie subseries name).

Magpie Court
*? - I have an urge to flesh out the chibi!Mags flashbacks and do a Maggie book, it would probably be fairly short, but it could be a nice place to start.
*1 - The Grey Edge (Arc 1)
*2 - Grey Crown (Arc 1/2)
*3 - Book I'm writing with Bufi (Arc 2)
*4 - Germelshausen (placeholder title) (Arc 2)
*5 - This is probably in the wrong place, but there'll be a book where we meet Mags' brother Bennefree and follow his attempts to clone unicorns. (Arc 2/3)

Trilogy
[Fairyland/Lost/Madchester/wild fae trilogy starring a nerd and a whore]
*1 - [no placeholder title]
*2 - [no placeholder title]
*3 - [no placeholder title]

Court Books
*Marriage in Manchester - Madhe's son gets married.

Outside of Main Series [All titles are placeholders]
*Young!Stef novel

*Bastion – basically, my love letter to the 80s fantasy that I grew up on.

*The Enders - massive excuse to write Doctor Who-style stories, may end up being a series of short/novellas or a few larger books.

*The Little Mermaid – again, not actual/working title, just accurate. Lesbian interpretation of the story starring Milla from the Hyde Agency (the people who watch Madchester).

*Carnival - about a minor court that a mix of the Lost and the Mad

*Evacuee - this may end up as a novella, it's the story of Dorian during WW2 and how he came to adopt Jonowoi.

*Goblins - the goblins need a new leader, so they invent a prophecy about a princess.

And this is just what's in my head right now, I know I'm forgetting books-

-goes to add another-

-and I'll add more in the future, but at least you know RC isn't going anywhere soon. :D

something like Mirrorlife for oubliette? Cos Stef's a mirror (kind of) and she's got her life working now (kind of). Like, she's made it out of hacker girl scared to have a life and is now hacker girl scared to lose it?

I dunno. The cold makes my brain slow, apologies if what I wrote was nonsense.

There's no place I can be, since I found Serenity.

...have some your cold, if I ship you some heat? It's been really horridly hot here the past couple of weeks. -_-

Whoa--there's a lot of stuff in your head :D I'm so glad you're sharing it with us! I'm on the edge of my seat to find out what happens next. I'm hooked, here for the long haul, and enjoying the heck out of it.

...it's probably annoying to read about books that aren't going to be out for years, but I also like to show that I've got a plan for the series - not a meticulous one like JMS has for Babylon 5, but one that means the 'verse won't be going anywhere soon.

...and it's fun to see people make guesses about future books. ^_^

Reality is a formality.

Oh--and I agree with dungeonkeeper about Mirrorlife :)

as i said on the FaceBook, I think oubliette is still the best title.

it starts with carol, but stef, curt, ryan, mags, taylor, vink, merlin, jonesy, even clarke get stuck in their own mental and emotional traps, and either break free or sink further. oubliette describes EVERYONE'S life right now.

also, as it appears to be the book that transitions into the war arc, with a different naming convention, breaking with Mirror NOW might help that transiion.

...one of the Angelpie books (the Flippy one) is really the book that begins the war arc, or that could be considered the first skirmish, but gets shunted to the sub-series as it's all from teh combat side of things.

Anayilea's picture

...Some of the book ideas that have been tossed out there. But I think it needs to have something with burning or ashes in it... as it seems the main plot line has to do with the phoenixes and saving their lives, the world, etc. Mirrorblaze or Mirrorscorch or Mirrorconflagrate. Mirrorember, Mirrorash? I don't know, SOMETHING to give nod to Stef saving the world from burning to itty bits of space trash. And getting the phoenixes back to a safer plane of existing. Just my two copper pieces.

...now that I look at Mirrorash, I think it should be vetoed. As I read it as "Mirror Rash" when I re-read my post. Or Mirror ass (with a lisp). /laugh

...Mirrorblaze, it seems like a book that needs racing stripes on the side. :P

It seems the Mermaid book may grow some sequels, and really explore under-the-MV-sea, and may involve sinking California. :D

I hereby announce I'll be writing some books set in the 1920s - Ryan and Reynolds in their heyday, should be fun. ^_^

I also want to do some stuff with the American agency and the in-universe birth of the MiB urban legend, may involve Roswell and/or other foo fighters.

the only thing I had dibbs on was a ghostbusters one. And that's covered by the US. Pls tell me not London at least? I like to pretend that eventually I will get back to my literary roots, once the demons of university lift.

As i'm a Northener i'll let you have London and anywhere south of Hull if you want it

I'm not crazy. I prefer the term 'reality impaired'

Stormy's picture

...Hull seems to be the butt of a lot of jokes, does it deserve its reputation?

Reality is a formality.

raven's picture

No i dont think Hull deserves it reputation, we have some big problems ie unemployment and schooling, but so do most towns and cities that are in the northen parts of england and we're not actually the worse place in the world to live.

I'm not crazy. I prefer the term 'reality impaired'

Stormy's picture

...see people calling it "Hell" or "Hull? Who lives in Hull?" from that episode of Doctor Who.

>_>

<_<

I do actually plan on using Hull, if only for as background for a fae king, who is themselves a background character (you'll see what I mean when I do it). But I like doing it as a subtle reminder that London =/= England, like a lot of other fandoms do (hence why there's Madchester :D).

(Ok, that's a lie, Madchester exists because of the name, cause I couldn't not put a fae court of the mad there after hearing the name, so let's properly blame Life on Mars :D).

Reality is a formality.

dungeonkeepr's picture

It's too cold up north. And by that I mean anywhere north of the Thames. I so want to write about all the insanity that happens in the underground. Once, saw a guy dressed as a leprechaun, just chilling on the underground. And there was the guy that insisted he was a king, in his fancy white suit and stick. I almost have to believe that there's some kind of fae enclave in North London, otherwise I'll have to go with living on the wrong side of the Thames makes 'em crazier.

There's no place I can be, since I found Serenity.

raven's picture

well if you want the perpective of a person who lives in Hull feel free to ask loads of questions

I'm not crazy. I prefer the term 'reality impaired'

Well, from the sounds of it, they have a Hull lot of questions to ask.

Free online fiction and hosting of YOUR fiction,

Stormy's picture

...I've really got any questions just yet. Basically, there's going to have been a Hob king who held the Hull throne (sometimes called the Hall throne, cause hobs like minor word play) who made something massive mistake/royally screwed up something, whatnot, and decided to give himself over to the justice of the crowd.

So this is now a valid thing, wherein people who feel they deserve justice can basically let a mob beat on them (there are organised things, and less organised things).

Reality is a formality.
