Ok so...

Update: Ok, so yesterday, I finished off the main storyline, doesn't include flashbacks, just the main thread, and got it up to 79 chapters long. With flashbacks, the total is probably going to be about 90. I say this with the caveat that it's me, and that it's this book, and nothing goes to plan, so no promises about getting these exact numbers, but at least there's a plan. :D

Ok, yes, I know you haven't had a new chapter in a few days. There is a reason for this, and I'm about to explain.

GE has gone through so, so, so, so, so many changes since it was first put into order, from being a love-triangle book, to one involving a haunted house, to book 3.5, to a novella, etc, etc. However, since it took shape, I've had very firm ideas about what was to happen.

...but then Mags and Taylor had to go and boink.

They weren't supposed to, but they did anyway. I mean, I know it made perfect sense for their character arcs, and it was awesome, it was the right time, and it felt good...but still, it ruined my plan. It wasn't supposed to happen for like...another 15 chapters or something, actually...that was when the confession was supposed to happen, the boinking wasn't supposed to happen until basically the end of the book.

But they boinked, and everything got ruined.

So I've basically been left floundering trying to figure out what goes where, how things work together, and what the implications of having the sexytiem at this point in the book is. Needless to say, although it sounds like a lot of author whinging, it's actually really hard.

And in the process of working everything out, I was having a conversation with someone who shall remain anonymous and...codenamed "Little Owl" for our convenience >_> brought up an idea that is in the works to happen around...the end of Arc 2, yanno, books and books and books from now.

However, I went and sat, and thought, and decided to go for it. I can't tell you what it is, but it's...massive.

And that in turn, means that GE is going to be massive. I mean, I can safely imagine it's going to reach 80 chapters (subject to it going awry and things going off-spec again), but I think that's what I'm going to be aiming for.

So yeah...it's, in all probability, going to be bigger than MS, possibly significantly bigger.

I'm curently writing out chapter-by-chapter summaries, trying to get an idea of where I'm going with this. I'm currently up to chapter 47, will be doing more tonight, and a bunch more tomorrow.

However, it does mean that what I've written of the next chapter is valid, so when I feel up to writing again, I've got about a 1000 head-start on what I need to do.

I may, however, get a little sidetracked on Friday (2nd) by various birthday-related stuff, but I'll try and see what I can do.
