Okies, erased from MilkMachine's intro thread and posted here. QUESTIONS!
Hehee. Pirate Stef had a crush on Peter? She had TWO imaginary friends? Or was Peter on loan? I guess Hook was more of a father kind, too.
...I <3 Hook though.
Are imaginary friends assigned?
Do their kid think them up?
What are the rules for whether or not a kid gets an IF?
Can kids share an IF, like twins?
Ohoh! I want to know more about the kid that grew up an married her IF!
What happens to the IF when the kid and the IF break up?
I'm guessing what happened with Stef and Hook was a bit unusual, what are the usual ways kids lose their IFs?
Does Stef still have a chance of seeing Hook and Peter?
Did Stef really never call for Hook again? Why wouldn't she try and call for him again, just in case?
If Stef called for Hook now, would he show up? Would he be visible to the Agents, or to Merlin?
Do IF come from a Court?
For that matter, what are the Courts, besides the Lost and Madchester?
...I <3 the imaginary friends idea. And the Courts. And the Fae. Moar info plz!
(*nomnom* Delishus info.)
Do IF come from a Court?
They're from the Court of the Lost. That was established in canon. That's part of why Ryan was suggesting Stef take sanctuary there, because she already had a tie to them of sorts. Bold Voice would have qualified her for Madchester, as well, but that would have been a bad idea since what's-her-name claimed sanctuary from them.
For that matter, what are the Courts, besides the Lost and Madchester?
This has been answered, too, but I don't remember all of them. The Court of Kings was one, who act as arbitrators between the Courts when necessary. Or something like that.
Hehee. Pirate Stef had a crush on Peter? She had TWO imaginary friends? Or was Peter on loan? I guess Hook was more of a father kind, too.
Yeah, he was more of the fatherly/grandfatherly type.
...I <3 Hook though.
I do too. :D And I've picked his dream casting actor. ^_^
Are imaginary friends assigned?
In a manner of speaking - certain people have penchant for certain types of roles, so are assigned kids who want that type of IF etc. There's a method to it all.
Do their kid think them up?
Yeah, kids can have like...custom ones so to speak, they're not all existing characters like Hook.
What are the rules for whether or not a kid gets an IF?
Yeah, basically it's a case of those in the greatest need. Kids who have bad home lives and stuff. Those that are in danger/being badly abused etc may get taken in, but if the situation isn't dire (like it wasn't with Stef, her parents were horrible but she wasn't in any real danger, if you know what I mean.
Can kids share an IF, like twins?
Sure, why not?
Ohoh! I want to know more about the kid that grew up an married her IF!
His imaginary friend, you mean, and sure, I can do that. :D
What happens to the IF when the kid and the IF break up?
They go chill in their Court until they get assigned someone else. They're real beings, not simply existing because of the kids. :)
I'm guessing what happened with Stef and Hook was a bit unusual, what are the usual ways kids lose their IFs?
Ya, just a bit.
Does Stef still have a chance of seeing Hook and Peter?
Hook, sure. Peter not so much.
Did Stef really never call for Hook again? Why wouldn't she try and call for him again, just in case?
Wait for the young!Stef book, everything is explained.
If Stef called for Hook now, would he show up? Would he be visible to the Agents, or to Merlin?
Yup, she's called herself Found, but she's still Lost enough to get some attention.
Do IF come from a Court?
The Court of the Lost.
For that matter, what are the Courts, besides the Lost and Madchester?
Lost, Mad, Blood, Kings, Silence, Liars
Reality is a formality.
"Does Stef still have a chance of seeing Hook and Peter?
Hook, sure. Peter not so much. "
;__; Why not Peter? What happened to him?
What else has Hook played, when being other kids Imaginary Friend? I imagine he's about the same personality.
If the Imaginary Friends are real beings, how do they modify themselves so much for the kid? Like, what if the kid wants a flying pink and orange mini zebra-fairy?
What are the more usual ways kids lose their Imaginary Friends?
Has Ryan figured out who Stef's Imaginary Friend was? I mean, he found her Buttercup...
Are Imaginary Friends assigned to only one kid at a time, or do they handle multiple kids at once?
Hm. Hook, and Ryan...Does the universe just have a penchant for giving Stef better daddy figures? Makes me wonder what's looking out for her.
;__; Why not Peter? What happened to him?
If I tell you, it'll only ruin the story. Be patient, you'll find out. :)
What else has Hook played, when being other kids Imaginary Friend? I imagine he's about the same personality.
Not sure. I've got no problem imagining him portraying Nemo, but I haven't really decided (plus...can't be too many kids who would Nemo as an IF).
If the Imaginary Friends are real beings, how do they modify themselves so much for the kid? Like, what if the kid wants a flying pink and orange mini zebra-fairy?
Glamours basically - and it's the same way they keep hidden from, well, like grown-ups when they're around their kid, it's either using power they have, or power granted them through various methods, by the Court (like in Milo's case).
What are the more usual ways kids lose their Imaginary Friends?
It's generally more just, the kid growing up, or getting over their rough patch, or learning to make real friends, etc.
Has Ryan figured out who Stef's Imaginary Friend was? I mean, he found her Buttercup...
Well...he was the one who went and fetched him during MH (ref MH, and the flashback in the beginning of MS).
Are Imaginary Friends assigned to only one kid at a time, or do they handle multiple kids at once?
Multiple kids at once, normally, since sometimes they're only playing with their kids for like 20mins or whatever. They try to give as much coverage as they can, which is hard to do because of their limited resources (the Lost is not a very powerful Court, and even more limited than it should be...because of...reasons).
Hm. Hook, and Ryan...Does the universe just have a penchant for giving Stef better daddy figures? Makes me wonder what's looking out for her.
You mean other than the author? :P
She got Hook because of her rotten father, so the cause-and-effect is obvious there. She got Ryan...because of Ryan, so it's a causal loop or something. :P
Reality is a formality.
She got Ryan...because of Ryan, so it's a causal loop or something.
Actually... If you think about it for a moment... Wouldn't it be fair to say that she got Ryan because of the Solstice? I mean, they're the reason she got rescued by him in the first place (well, the reason she needed rescuing anyway), and also the reason she almost got shot by him in the second place...
On the other hand, it's also because of him, of course, because if he wasn't who he is, he quite possibly wouldn't have rescued and not shot her...
So... Mostly because of Ryan, but triggered by the Solstice? Maybe? Aah, I dunno.
Besides, events -can- be circular. They just follow infinitely weirder rules when they do. (yeah yeah, I know, no time travel in MV, UH physics doesn't apply... whatever :P :) ) So you should just ignore me, I guess... I tend to get bad/weird ideas, and to get stuck on technicalities. (I'm a programmer, it's what I do :P )
In neither case, would she have been in a situation requiring (hehehe) an agent if it hadn't been for the Solstice, but he being who he is also contributed a lot - I mean, otherwise in the first case, there would have just been a dead kid, so the second time wouldn't have existed. :P
Reality is a formality.

are things that are required based off a set pattern? does an original have to be made the regular way, then added into the magic matrix, or can it all be done with code?
did they have computers as we know them in the dusker days, or was everything done through crystal balls or some such?
ash... ash of WHAT exactly?

Things can be all done in code, a lot Jonesy's toys are made that way, as well as agent-specific stuff, I mean, there's no need to sit and solder when you can just design it with a key (ok, more than a few) keystrokes.
However, that being said, there has to be at least a reference for how things are made. Stef can't just go "require: phaser" or "require: ray gun" if one doesn't exist. Things that have been destroyed can be remade, because the basis for them exists (like, someone asked me once if the contents of the library of Alexandria could be required and, well, the answer is yes, because they've existed).
The duskers didn't have computers - they had HUDs, but they also did a lot of stuff on paper...and they also had a lot less need for computers etc, as things were a lot less regulated.
Ash of...ash. It's just ash. I needed a mechanic so there Taylor wasn't leaving limbs all over Brisbane, just something they break down into, and I'm a Bowie fan. :P
