Alignments!

Since we're discussing this in the Cookiemas comments...let's bring it over here and argue the merits of the main cast for their alignment squares. :D

Just so this is seen. ^_^

Reality is a formality.

It's kinda hard to recall exactly what I said in bed, shortly before going to sleep a few weeks ago, dear, but here goes:

Lawful Good: Ryan - The man is constantly struggling with what's mandated vs. what's best.
Neutral Good: Merlin - The kid's pure sweetness and love, even if he is a little weird.
Chaotic Good: Curt - He's a slacker and more concerned about his own issues than his job, but he always does his best to do what's right, thanks to the guilt hanging around his neck.
Lawful Neutral: Magnolia - She just wants everything in its right place. Hers is at the side of Taylor, of course.
True Neutral: Jonesy - Agent Jones is everything all at once. Like Batman.
Chaotic Neutral: Stef - Well, duh. Thoroughly self-centred and more than a little crazy, but mostly harmless. Sometimes even useful.
Lawful Evil: Taylor - Anything that doesn't fit the rules needs to be crushed until it does. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Neutral Evil: Clark - He does whatever he feels he has to based on inscrutable motives and feels no remorse or guilt whatsoever.
Chaotic Evil: The Parkers - Yes, both of them. Just because one of them is nice and tempers the impulses of the other doesn't change the fact that they're basically one person. Nice Parker just has better survival instincts. :D

I think this is the best ever phrase to describe Stef. :D :D :D

Reality is a formality.

Lawful Good: Ryan - The man is constantly struggling with what's mandated vs. what's best.
And will continue to do so, I think he's one of the few characters that won't really have an alignment shift over the series.

Neutral Good: Merlin - The kid's pure sweetness and love, even if he is a little weird.
Dammit. I have a joke to make, but it'll have to wait until after the gala. Someone remind me to come back to this.

Chaotic Good: Curt - He's a slacker and more concerned about his own issues than his job, but he always does his best to do what's right, thanks to the guilt hanging around his neck.
His issues and the people he cares about will always mean more than the Agency - he would drop the Agency in a second in order to do the right thing. Mags and Taylor will at least have a discussion if/when they ever have to leave the Agency, Curt would just stuff Stef into a bag and head for the nearest set of fairy stairs.

Lawful Neutral: Magnolia - She just wants everything in its right place. Hers is at the side of Taylor, of course.
Magnolia: probably the only kid who never tried to jam square pegs into round holes.

True Neutral: Jonesy - Agent Jones is everything all at once. Like Batman.
He also has cool toys like Batman.

Chaotic Neutral: Stef - Well, duh. Thoroughly self-centred and more than a little crazy, but mostly harmless. Sometimes even useful.
I really don't think she'd argue this herself - there's always a line I've wanted to put in, but haven't had a chance, about how she's not a good person. She basically makes the argument that if she was a good person, it would hurt every time she went past a hospital because she wasn't using the mirror to make all the sick people better, or how it would bother her that recruits died in the infirmary, rather than just being some stat she reads on a report.

Lawful Evil: Taylor - Anything that doesn't fit the rules needs to be crushed until it does. NO EXCEPTIONS.
...does he have to crush himself when he doesn't follow the rules? ^_^

Neutral Evil: Clarke - He does whatever he feels he has to based on inscrutable motives and feels no remorse or guilt whatsoever.
...even if those motives are dickish and his own.

Chaotic Evil: The Parkers - Yes, both of them. Just because one of them is nice and tempers the impulses of the other doesn't change the fact that they're basically one person. Nice Parker just has better survival instincts. :D
I think someone would be missing a kidney if they hadn't been classified as evil. :D

Reality is a formality.

>Curt would just stuff Stef into a bag and head for the nearest set of fairy stairs.

Ho ho ho!

(it had to be said)

I think Stef is chaotic good, actually. Good people don't have to be saints, sacrificing themselves for people they've never met. Good people just reliably do the right thing for the people around them, and Stef has done that consistently. It shows in the wishes she's made on behalf of Taylor and Mags and Ryan.

I think Jonesy is neutral evil. He's willing to manipulate, hurt, and kill to accomplish what he wants. That's beyond neutrality and into evil territory. He's fallen to the temptations of expediency, even if the root of the temptation was in his compassion for Merlin.
